Description of brain waves and their imbalances

  1. Delta waves (0.5-4 Hz)

    • Function: associated with deep sleep and physical regeneration.

    • Excess: lethargy and difficulty concentrating.

    • Deficiency: sleep disorders and difficulty recovering.

  2. Theta waves (4-8 Hz)

    • Function: linked to deep relaxation, creativity and introspection.

    • Excess: distraction, fatigue, difficulty focusing.

    • Deficiency: stress, inability to relax, poor creativity.

  3. Alpha waves (8-12 Hz)

    • Function: a state of calm alertness and balance between mind and body.

    • Excess: excessive calm, lack of motivation.

    • Deficiency: anxiety, tension, chronic stress.

  4. SMR waves (12-15 Hz)

    • Function: mental stability, motor control, relaxed concentration.

    • Excess: apathy and drowsiness.

    • Deficiency: hyperactivity, poor motor control.

  5. Beta waves (15-35 Hz)

    • Function: alertness, concentration and problem-solving.

    • Excess: stress, anxiety, mental overload.

    • Deficiency: poor concentration, cognitive slowness.

  6. Gamma waves (>35 Hz)

    • Function: advanced learning, sensory integration, awareness.

    • Excess: overstimulation, mental stress.

    • Deficiency: learning difficulties, poor integration of thoughts and sensations.
